The point of Genre's are to acts as guidelines for films, so viewers can know what to expect from it and directors can make what the viewer want to see. These guidelines often change as directors want to make a film but want to experiment with new ideas, when this is particularly effective films will start to copy some of these ideas and the guidelines will have evolved with it.
The conventions of the Spoof/Parody Genre are:
- To be very over the top
- To make fun of a popular film(s)
- to be easily recognised
- To be funny
- To follow some of the conventions of the genre it is taking the mick out of and make them over-the-top
