The Audience

The audience is the most important factor to consider when making a film as they could work hard at making a film, but if the audience doesn't know about it they wont go and see it and if its not what they want they wont see it, and without viewers they wont get any income.

Audience research is key when making a film, they need to make sure they make a film that many people will want to see, to guarantee a large audience as possible and positive reviews and they will also need to know how to advertise to attract the audience to fit the genre of your film.

To know the audience they want the producers need to look at these factors:

  • Gender
  • Age Group
  • Religion
  • Class
  • Ethnicity
  • Family
The media is connected with the audience in many ways, there are many theories explaining how this works but the one i think is the best is:

The Two Step Flow Model

This is when someone with an authority opinion like a film reviewer says something about the film and this opinion is passed on to people with less authority so what one person thinks of a film spreads quickly and the people now tell others the original opinion which can be good for the film is it is positive but if it a negative review it can stop a huge amount of people from watching it.
